LUCKY MOURINHO

Jose Mourinho's Chelsea suffered a big scare on day 1 of the Premierleague when they took on Little Wigan at the JJB Stadium. The game was being screnned on Sky Sports across the country and no doubt the world, and Latics started the more brighter with Jason Roberts and new record signed Henri Camara looking sharp up front. Camara had 1 saved by Cech, with Roberts should of done better with the rebound and Camara sent one just wide of Petr Cech's post. Soon After that, a brilliant little run by Camara again, made Asier Dek Horno go to ground and a little chip cross found Alan Mahon, but the Irish midfielder couldn't captalise. Many say a more right footed player would have stuck that away, well that is why Lee McCulloch would of been useful on the wing that day. Anyway, back to the game, and the so called Sensational attack of Chelsea, made up today of Frank Lampard, Eidur Gudjohnsen, Arjen Robben, Damian Duff and Didier Drogba could just not find away past the Wigan defence. The only decent chance they had was when Duff took on Baines, but a very good shot, which was flying into the bottom corner was saved well by debutant Mike Pollitt in the Latics goals. Onto half time, and it was time for Mourinho to shake Chelsea around and off came Arjen Robben and Eidur Gudjohnsen and on came more superstars in Shaun Wright Phillips and Joey Cole. In this half, Chelsea got more into the game but last ditch tackles was there from the Latics defenders and just showed how commited the lads are. Pascal Chimbonda was having an absolute blinder, and this showed when a last ditch tackle stopped Frankie Lampard breaking through on goal and then started raising his arms to gee up the crowd. Teale, then got down the wing and a superb cross found former Norwich midfielder Damian Francis whos header hit Cech's bar with the keeper beaten.
Then, Jason Roberts turned John Terry, and played it to subsitute Andreas Johansson who dragged his shot wide of the Chelsea goal, although there was a hint of a deflection, which wasnt seen by the referee. Up the other end now, and Frank Lampards free kick, was blocked by the way, and Bullard came away with and give it to Teale, who ran half the field and then made a Beckham like pass to Andreas Johansson, who with that much space and time should of done better but instead, it ended up in the South Stand. The drama was about to unfold though, as Chelsea mounted a quick attack and a slip from Baines gave them abit more room and Crespo found abit of space on the edge of area and BANG! It was one nil Chelsea. A truly stunning goal from Crespo but Wigan hearts were heartbroken but pride can be taken from this result and even Jose Mourinho agrees that Chelsea got lucky and Wigan deserved at least a draw.
